I have two children with dyslexia and dyspraxia. It's up to parents to understand the technology that they are using with their children, how to protect their children, and how to ensure the technology works for them in school and in life. UrAbility's courses give parents a very good foundation that helps parents understand the technology that their children are using.

Here’s what we’ll cover

All three video lessons are short and actionable (about 20 minutes each) so you can watch and get started right away.

Video 1 | Choosing Technology

Should I get them an iPad or a laptop? How do I set it up properly?

I’ll cover how to choose technology for your child or student, as well as how to access the most useful built-in accessibility features that come standard on all Windows laptops and Apple iPads.

Video 2 | Reading and Writing

I’ll show you the life-changing built-in accessibility options on your devices that can help children with reading and writing, including how to use voice recognition for stress-free writing, and technology that makes handwritten worksheets a thing of the past.

Video 3 | Study Skills and Touch Typing

You’ll learn how to get started with touch-typing, as well as tips and tools to help your child or student keep track of their schoolwork, organise their ideas, and how to use Scanning Pens that make reading on the go easy.

I've got a 12 year old son who has dyslexia and dyspraxia. I didn't have a huge amount of knowledge around assistive technology and what was available and all the supports that are there for kids that are going through school. UrAbility really has opened up another world. I can see positivity now and I can see something that he can work with that can make school a little bit easier for him.

I’m James Northridge, the Founder of UrAbility.

Having Dyslexia and ADHD, I very much understand the learning challenges that face students.

In this short online video training, I’ll show you the foundational steps you should take to support your child or student’s learning. I’ll help you get your head around what technology is available, useful features you may already have but not be aware of, and how you can support children to reach their full potential.
